Flags of South America Quiz
Can you recognize all 14 flags of South America? Choose the country for each flag and see how you score.
Tips for recognizing South American flags
The trap is the yellow, blue and red group. Colombia is the plain one with a double-width yellow band, Ecuador adds a coat of arms, and Venezuela has an arc of stars on the blue. Argentina and Uruguay both have a sun and blue and white, but Argentina has three bands and Uruguay nine stripes.
Brazil is easy with its blue globe, Chile has one white star, Peru is red-white-red, Bolivia red-yellow-green, and Paraguay red-white-blue with an emblem in the center. Guyana has a golden arrowhead, and Suriname a star on a wide red band. The territories, the Falkland Islands and French Guiana, use a blue ensign and a French tricolor. See the South American flags.
How the quiz works
Each question shows one flag and four answer buttons. Pick one: the right answer is highlighted, and if you missed, the quiz tells you which country or territory it was and links to its page. Your score is shown while you play, and the final result appears after the last flag. There is no timer. The 14 flags come in a new random order every time, so you can replay as often as you like.
How to learn South American flags fast
Fourteen flags is a short list, so group them by color. Yellow, blue and red: Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela. Red and white: Peru and Chile (Chile adds a blue square with a star). Blue and white: Argentina and Uruguay. The rest are one-offs. Within the first group, look for the emblem (Ecuador) or the arc of stars (Venezuela). Bolivia has the same red, yellow and green bands as Ghana's flag, without Ghana's black star. Replay a few times, then review the South American flags.
Frequently asked questions

The quiz has 14 flags: 12 sovereign countries plus the Falkland Islands and French Guiana, which are territories. The 12 countries are Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela. Each quiz question offers four of these 14 flags, so wrong answers always come from the same continent.
What is the hardest South American flag to guess?
There is no official ranking, but Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela are the likeliest to be confused. All three are yellow, blue and red horizontal flags. Colombia has no emblem, Ecuador has a coat of arms and Venezuela has an arc of stars.
What are the answers to the South America flags quiz?
The answer is revealed after each question. If you pick wrong, the quiz tells you the correct country or territory and links to its page. At the end you see your score out of 14. You can replay the quiz as often as you want, and each round shuffles the order of the 14 flags again.
Are the Falkland Islands and French Guiana in the quiz?
Yes. Both are territories, not independent countries, and both are among the 14 flags. The Falkland Islands use a blue ensign with a badge, and French Guiana uses the French tricolor. Their pages are linked from the quiz feedback, so you can look up the badge or symbol after a wrong answer.
