Flag Quizzes
Test how well you know the flags of the world. Choose a continent or the US states, name each flag, and see your score.
How the quiz works
Each question shows one flag and four answer buttons. Pick one: the right answer is highlighted, and if you missed, the quiz tells you which country or territory it was and links to its page. Your score is shown while you play, and the final result appears after the last flag. There is no timer. The 254 flags come in a new random order every time, so you can replay as often as you like.
Choose a regional quiz
The world quiz mixes all 254 flags. For easier practice, pick a region: South America (14 flags), Oceania (27), North America (41), Asia (52), Europe (57), Africa (58) or the 50 US state flags. These counts include territories, so they are higher than the number of countries.
How to learn world flags fast
Learn one continent at a time and use groups: Nordic crosses, Pan-African colors, Pan-Arab colors and the Southern Cross. Pay attention to the pairs that people mix up, such as Romania and Chad, Indonesia and Monaco, or Ireland and Ivory Coast. Browse the flags of the world or sort them by color before you play. When stuck, count the stripes, note their direction and check for a star, crescent, cross or coat of arms.
Frequently asked questions
Can you guess all 197 countries?
This quiz has 254 flags, because it includes territories and regions as well as the 193 UN member states. Try a continent first, then take the world quiz. It tells you the correct country after each wrong answer. Each round shuffles the flags, so you can replay and improve your score.
Are there 195 or 249 countries?
There are 193 UN member states, and 195 if you add the two observer states, the Vatican and Palestine. Larger numbers like 249 come from lists of countries and territories. This quiz uses 254 flags, which includes territories. Both numbers are correct under different definitions, so check which one a quiz uses.
What is the hardest flag to guess?
There is no official ranking, but look-alike pairs cause the most mistakes. Examples are Romania and Chad, Indonesia and Monaco, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, and Ireland and Ivory Coast. The US state quiz is hard because many flags are a seal on blue.
What are the answers to the flags quiz?
The answer appears right after each question. If you pick wrong, the quiz names the correct country and links to its flag page. The final score is shown after the last flag. You can replay the quiz as many times as you like, and each round shuffles the order again.
Can I get a list of countries for a quiz?
Yes. The flags of the world page at /flags-of-the-world/ lists every country and territory with its flag, and you can sort by continent or color. Use it to study before you play. Each flag links to its own page, with colors, symbols and history.
