Flags of Oceania Quiz

Can you name all 27 flags of Oceania, from Australia to the smallest Pacific territories? Pick the answer for each flag.

Question 1Score: 0
Which country's flag is this?

Tips for recognizing Oceania flags

Look for the Union Jack first: it sits in the corner of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tuvalu. Australia's stars are white and include a large Commonwealth Star, while New Zealand has four red stars. Fiji is light blue, and Tuvalu has nine yellow stars.

Without a Union Jack, check the shapes. Papua New Guinea is split diagonally with a bird of paradise, Vanuatu has a sideways Y, Nauru a white star under a gold stripe, and Palau a yellow disc on light blue. Tonga has a red cross on a white canton. Territories like Guam and American Samoa carry local seals. More in the Oceania flags guide.

How the quiz works

Each question shows one flag and four answer buttons. Pick one: the right answer is highlighted, and if you missed, the quiz tells you which country or territory it was and links to its page. Your score is shown while you play, and the final result appears after the last flag. There is no timer. The 27 flags come in a new random order every time, so you can replay as often as you like.

How to learn Oceania flags fast

Start with the Union Jack group and the Southern Cross. Australia and New Zealand both have the Union Jack and the Southern Cross, but Australia's stars are white and New Zealand's are red. Samoa and Papua New Guinea also show the Southern Cross, without the Union Jack. After that, sort by color: light-blue flags (Fiji, Palau) and the rest. Many of the 13 territories combine a Union Jack or French tricolor with a local seal, so learn those last. Browse the Oceania flags guide and play again.

Frequently asked questions

What 14 countries are in Oceania?

The 14 sovereign countries are Australia, Fiji, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, New Zealand, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. The quiz has 27 flags because it also includes 13 territories, each with its own flag page.

Can you provide a list of flags from Oceania?

Yes. The Oceania flags page at /continents/oceania/ lists all 27 flags with names, from Australia and Fiji to Guam, Tokelau and Wallis and Futuna. Use it to study before you play. Each flag links to its own page, so you can also check colors, symbols and history there.

What are the answers to the Oceania flags quiz?

The quiz gives the answer after every question. If you choose the wrong flag name, it highlights the correct one and links to that flag's page. At the end it shows your score out of 27. You can replay it as often as you want, and each round shuffles the order of the 27 flags again.

Which Oceania flags have the Southern Cross?

Australia, New Zealand, Samoa and Papua New Guinea show the Southern Cross star pattern, and some territory flags, such as Tokelau's, do too. Australia and New Zealand also have the Union Jack, with white stars on Australia's flag and four red stars on New Zealand's. Those two details are the first to check when you see a blue or red Pacific flag.
