North America Flags Quiz
Do you know all 41 flags of North America, including Central America and the Caribbean? Pick the country for each flag.
Tips for recognizing North American flags
Begin with the giants: the maple leaf for Canada, stars and stripes for the United States, and the eagle for Mexico. In Central America, blue-white-blue flags belong to Guatemala, Honduras (five stars), El Salvador and Nicaragua (a triangle emblem); Costa Rica has a wide red stripe.
In the Caribbean, Jamaica's gold X is unmistakable, Trinidad and Tobago has a black diagonal band on red, and Cuba and Puerto Rico are reversed twins. Territories with a Union Jack in the corner and a badge, like Bermuda or the Cayman Islands, are the hardest: study the emblem. See the North American flags first.
How the quiz works
Each question shows one flag and four answer buttons. Pick one: the right answer is highlighted, and if you missed, the quiz tells you which country or territory it was and links to its page. Your score is shown while you play, and the final result appears after the last flag. There is no timer. The 41 flags come in a new random order every time, so you can replay as often as you like.
How to learn North American flags fast
Treat the continent as three groups: the three big countries, Central America and the Caribbean. Several Central American flags are blue and white, so learn those by emblem. In the Caribbean, sort by shape: stripes and triangles (Cuba, the Bahamas), crosses and diagonals (Jamaica, the Dominican Republic), and flags with a Union Jack. Puerto Rico's flag was modeled on Cuba's, so check the triangle: Cuba's is red, Puerto Rico's is blue. Then work through the territories, which are the hardest, one emblem at a time. The North American flags page shows them all.
Frequently asked questions
How many flags are in the North America flags quiz?
The quiz has 41 flags: 23 UN member states plus 18 territories, such as Puerto Rico, Greenland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands. It covers Canada, the United States and Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. Every question gives four options drawn from those 41, so wrong answers are always other North American flags.
Are the US state flags part of this quiz?
No. The United States appears once, with its national flag. The 50 state flags have their own quiz at /quiz/us-states/. Greenland and the Caribbean territories are in this one. So if a flag has a seal on a blue field, it belongs to that quiz and you will not see it here.
Which North American flags look alike?
Cuba and Puerto Rico are the same design with colors reversed. Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua are all blue and white, so look at the emblem or stars in the middle. Many British territories use the same ensign with different badges.
What are the answers to the North America flags quiz?
Each question shows the right answer as soon as you respond. If you miss, the quiz names the country or territory and links to its page. Your total score for all 41 flags is shown at the end. You can replay the quiz as often as you want, and each round shuffles the order again.
Does the quiz include Central America and the Caribbean?
Yes. Both are part of North America here, so you will see flags such as Costa Rica, Panama, Jamaica and Haiti alongside Canada and Mexico. Each question draws its wrong answers from the same 41 flags. Greenland, Bermuda and Puerto Rico are in the pool too, since they are listed under North America.
