Flags of Asia Quiz

Can you identify all 52 Asian flags? Choose the right country for each flag and track your score.

Question 1Score: 0
Which country's flag is this?

Tips for recognizing Asian flags

Sort the flags by symbol first. A red disc on white is Japan, while a red disc on green is Bangladesh. Crescent and star flags include Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, so check the background color and extras such as Pakistan's white stripe and Malaysia's stripes.

Red, white, black and green mean a Pan-Arab flag: Jordan, Kuwait, the UAE, Iraq and Yemen. Look at the layout to separate them. Red flags with yellow stars are China (five stars) and Vietnam (one). The only odd shape in the quiz is Nepal. Remember that Indonesia is red over white and almost identical to Monaco's flag, which is in the Europe quiz. More on the Asian flags page.

How the quiz works

Each question shows one flag and four answer buttons. Pick one: the right answer is highlighted, and if you missed, the quiz tells you which country it was and links to its page. Your score is shown while you play, and the final result appears after the last flag. There is no timer. The 52 flags come in a new random order every time, so you can replay as often as you like.

How to learn Asian flags fast

Group by symbol first: a disc, a crescent, a star or an emblem. Then sort each group by background color. The disc group is small: Japan (red on white) and Bangladesh (red on green). Crescent flags differ by background, so check it before you answer. The Pan-Arab group, Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Yemen and the UAE, is separated by layout: a triangle, a bar, script or plain bands. Watch the red-and-white pair Indonesia and Monaco, and remember that Nepal is the only one that is not a rectangle. Replay the quiz after studying the Asian flags.

Frequently asked questions

How many flags are in the Asia flags quiz?

The quiz has 52 flags: 46 UN member states plus six other entries, namely Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Palestine, Christmas Island and the British Indian Ocean Territory. Each question gives four answer options from this same set. The Asia quiz shows only these 52, so you will not see flags from other continents among the answers.

Which Asian flag is not a rectangle?

Nepal. Its flag is made of two stacked pennants, and it is the only national flag in the world that is not rectangular or square. In the quiz it is one of the easiest to spot, so do not mix it up with anything else.

Which Asian flags use a crescent and star?

Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are among the Asian flags with a crescent and star. Tell them apart by background and extras: Turkey is red, Pakistan is green with a white stripe, Malaysia has red and white stripes and Azerbaijan has three bands.

Which Asian flags look alike?

Indonesia (red over white) is nearly the same as Monaco, which is in the Europe quiz, and Poland is the same colors reversed. Within Asia, the flags of Jordan, Kuwait, Iraq, Yemen and the UAE draw on the Pan-Arab colors of red, white, black and green (Yemen's has no green), so use the layout.

Can you give me some flag trivia about Asia?

Try these: which flag is not a rectangle (Nepal), which has a red disc on green (Bangladesh), and which Asian flag has five stars on red (China). Then play the quiz to test yourself on the rest of the 52.
