Montenegro flag emoji FAQ
Why does the Montenegro flag emoji show as letters ME?
Your device has no flag artwork for it. Windows uses letters for all country flags, and some older apps do the same. On iPhone, Android and Mac the flag appears.
How do I get the Montenegro flag emoji on Windows?
Windows 10 and 11 show letters, but you can copy the flag from this page and paste it into Chrome, Edge, WhatsApp, Telegram or social media, where it displays as a flag.
Is ๐ฒ๐ช the same as ๐ฆ๐ฑ?
No. ๐ฒ๐ช is red with a gold border and a gold eagle. ๐ฆ๐ฑ (Albania) is red with a black two-headed eagle and no border.
What does ME stand for?
ME is the ISO code for Montenegro. It is not Maine, which is a US state with no flag emoji of its own.
What flag is ๐ฒ๐ช?
๐ฒ๐ช is the flag of Montenegro: a red field with a gold border and the national coat of arms in the centre. The flag has a 1:2 ratio, and the border is one twentieth of the flag's height.
Why did Montenegro change its flag?
From 1993 Montenegro used a red, light blue and white tricolour. In 2004 the assembly passed a law creating a new flag based on an old royal banner. It came into force on 13 July 2004 and stayed the national flag after independence in 2006, so the old flag is no longer used.
